The server used for interbank transactions at Bangladesh Bank has been restored after 20 hours of downtime. The check clearing process has also resumed, according to the bank’s IT team.

The information was confirmed on Tuesday (October 1) by Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director and spokesperson, Hosne Ara Shikha.

The server issue was first identified at 9 PM on Monday, and efforts to resolve the technical problem began immediately. However, by 2 AM, the issue remained unresolved, resulting in the cancellation of all check settlements for Monday.

On Tuesday, the spokesperson explained that a technical glitch in Bangladesh Bank’s server had caused disruptions in the check clearing process. As a result, checks submitted on Monday could not be processed. The bank’s technical team had been working to resolve the issue, with the expectation that it would be fixed within the working day.

By 5 PM on Tuesday, the server had been repaired, and the check clearing process had resumed, according to an update from the spokesperson’s office around 5:45 PM.
